Aarvi in Wardha District, Maharashtra, is focusing on developing and promoting the Gaolao breed of indigenous cows, which are well-suited for the agro-climatic conditions of Vidarbha. The Gaolao breed is known for its dual-purpose nature, making it suitable for both milk and draught purposes. By prioritizing the development of this breed, the region aims to benefit poor farmers by providing them with a sustainable source of income through activities like Animal Husbandry (ATM). This initiative not only supports the local economy but also contributes to the preservation of indigenous cattle breeds, which play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and ensuring food security.

Goat Breeding & Milk

However, despite its long-standing presence, there has been a lack of initiatives to improve and enhance the breed's genetic qualities.
